Are you feeling frazzled, anxious or overwhelmed? Have you tried meditation, but cannot find the way out of these anxious states? Well, did you know that certain forms of yoga can help soothe an anxious nervous system by activating the relaxation response through movement, breath and a focus on your body? This doesn't take time to master, in fact it can work instantly.
In this yoga for anxiety class I will take you through two unique combinations. First, working from the bottom up – sending signals from the body to the brain using our body, breath and yoga asana to affect our physiology. We will then focus on the top down - a more cognitive strategy, where we work to interrupt mental patterns which affect change in the brain and mind, which then affects physiological change.
With this we begin to understand that everything is connected. There is no mind and body – I refer to it as the mind-body.
I hope you will leave my class feeling calm, grounded and with a sense of ease in the mind-body. You will gain practical tools to take away from my class to consistently learn to shift into the rest and digest response.
