Breastfeeding: What’s Normal?

Duration: 1 Hour

MeetMumz Class: $35 USD

One-on-One Session: $200 USD

In this session you will meet Louise Herbert, Certified Breastfeeding Specialist, who has been supporting breastfeeding families through pregnancy, breastfeeding initiation, and the full course of lactation, for the last 8 years. Her holistic approach is attachment-focused and research-based, and empowers moms to feel both supported and informed along their breastfeeding journeys.

Breastfeeding can bring many highs and lows, but in learning how to work with our biology**, as opposed to against it, and by normalizing attachment and responsiveness in the mother-baby dyad, this class sets out to leave you feeling informed, confident and even more in sync with your baby (if that was even possible!)

From initiating breastfeeding to weaning, this class shines a light on what to expect from each stage of the breastfeeding journey. Louise will explore:
- The common challenges
- How to normalize human biology above cultural conditioning
- The facts behind milk supply
- Breastfeeding and sleep
- Breastfeeding past infancy

If you've ever felt uneasy about the common advice to “let babies cry it out”, or been overwhelmed by the wider stream of contradictory ideas about feeding babies, then this class is for you. You will learn how to work with human biology and nature, so that both you and your baby can thrive in body, mind and emotions - together.

** This class supports the concept of a “new role for biology” in providing support to moms that simultaneously promotes secure attachment in their babies. Dr Jack Shonkoff, the Director of the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University and adviser to UNICEF, has argued for a ‘new role for biology’ in early year’s provision and policy in focussing interventions and support for parents’ needs for emotional and practical support as a way in to promoting secure attachment and early resilience in children.
